Welcome from Mr Mayland

Leaders are ambitious for the academy and are determined to be outstanding in everything that they do
— Ofsted 2014

Albany Academy a highly successful school, with a 50-year history and excellent reputation for serving the children of Chorley.

Our success is built on a relentless pursuit of excellence and maintaining the highest expectations. As I often say to our students, I expect the best for them and of them.

As a small school we are able to ensure that every child is genuinely known, and as a result our students feel happy and safe in school. We also ensure that our very best and most experienced teachers teach from Year 7 through to Year 11.

Strong discipline is an essential element of our success, as it allows children to be children and to be freed from the pressures of society.  Their wellbeing is our greatest concern, and by providing clear rules and fair discipline we can help them grow with confidence. Our expectations remain high at all times, as our students are leaders within school and ambassadors for our school community.

As a result of our high standards and strong discipline, our students are able to make the most of the many opportunities open to them within school and are also able to concentrate on their academic studies. They consequently make excellent progress in their studies, and in 2014 Albany Academy was the top performing non-selective school in Lancashire for pupil progress.

Similarly, we develop leaders of the future; students who are willing and able to support the school and local community. All our students take part in trips, charitable giving, and many represent the school successfully in sports or the arts.

I am very proud to be Headteacher of such an excellent school, and especially one that above all else, strives to develop our students as confident and caring young adults who are able and willing to change the world for the better.
