Albany's GCSE Results 2015

Following an excellent year we are delighted for pupils and staff with the 2015 GCSE results.

Preliminary results show that 2015 is another highly successful year for the school with some exceptional individual performances at A* and A grade levels. There has been an increase in the Government measure of 5A* - Cs including English and Maths rising over 10% to 59% in spite of a more challenging exam environment.  Several key subjects including separate sciences have achieved 100% A*- C.  In all subjects the progress made by pupils is exceptional.   Alongside this, the number of pupils achieving the top grades of 3 A*’s and A’s exceeds our own ambitious target. This is down to the continued hard work and dedication of all the experienced staff that are able to focus on the needs of each individual student.

Head teacher, Jon Hayes, said “2015 has been another great year for pupils at Albany Academy and these GCSE results reflect that.  The pupils and staff have worked exceptionally hard to achieve these results and should all be very proud of what they have achieved.  I wish every one of our pupils every success for their future.  Well done!”

Georgia Maple, who achieved 5A* and 7A grades, said “I am absolutely ecstatic with the results that I have achieved. I feel that the grades are a reflection of the hard work and dedication that I have put in. Thank you to all the staff at Albany for their hard work and dedication both in and out of the classroom.

Jamie Sharp, who achieved 3A*, 6A’s and 3B grades, said, “I am really pleased with my results. I am so happy, particularly with my result in English Language.”

These results continue the recent successes of Albany Academy at GCSE level and reflect the outstanding commitment and efforts of all of our school community.

Some initial highlights are that our pupils achieved 100% pass rate in Art and Design, Photography, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Media Studies and Further Mathematics. Pupils pass rate also exceeded the national average in, ICT, PE, Child Development, Religious Studies, Catering, Additional Science, Graphic Products and French.
