Inspirational visit from former student

High achieving past student Sara McGinlay, came in to Albany to show the Year 10 and 11 students her Photography work and discuss her continued A Level Photography studies at Cardinal Newman college.

Sara who achieved an A* grade in GCSE Photography and an A grade in Art and design during her time at Albany was invited in to school to act as an inspiration to the current GCSE students, who are studying Art and design and Photography.  Sara’s talk was particularly influential to the GCSE students as it helped to show the students how a range of experimentation can be used to benefit project work, as well as excellent examples of thorough documentation and creative presentation ideas. These are all aspects that the students need to consider in order for them to achieve a high grade in their forthcoming exams.

Art teacher, Mr Nisbet, said, “It was great to see Sara and see what she is doing now at Newman developing on from what she learned at Albany. She continues to be very enthusiastic about the subject and her work continues to be fantastic.”

To mark the hard work and inspiration that Sara showed during her time at Albany there will be a brand new award at our Awards Evening held this term. The new Photography award that Sara will be presenting will be titled ‘The Sara McGinlay award for Photography’.
