Primary Students Hit the Stage at Albany Dance Competition

Albany Academy hosted their annual primary school dance competition. Six local primary schools took part, with 7 acts in total competing to be the Primary School Dance champions.

The schools which included, Blackrod Church School, Coppull Parish Primary, Brinscall St John’s, Rivington Primary, All Saints Primary and Clayton Brook Primary took to the Albany stage and all performed amazing routines.

The winning act was the Year 5 class from Coppull Primary, who performed a rendition of Cats. The class, who wore full cat’s outfits, in keeping with the musical’s storyline, were crowned the champions in a close contest.

Mrs Milburn, PE teacher at Albany Academy who organised the event said,  “The standard gets better every year. All the performances were fantastic!  It was also lovely to see so many boys dancing too”.

Such was the high standard of performances, the students who took part in the event were invited to perform at the academy’s Open Evening on Thursday 29th September.
