Basketball Champions 2017

The Albany Year 11 boys’ basketball team were crowned district champions this term. The team of nine beat all before them to claim the trophy. They are also competing on two fronts as they are in a strong position to make the semi-finals of the Lancashire cup as they have won all four of their opening group fixtures with one left to play.

The team regularly practice afterschool and their success is built upon a strong defence that allows them to be free scoring in attack. Head of PE, Mr Peacock, said “This team have worked hard and developed as individuals, and team players. This latest achievement, Chorley schools under 16’s basketball champions, is the perfect preparation for the final stages of the Lancashire Schools basketball championships. The Albany U16’s are currently unbeaten and leading their Lancashire league table, on course for the semifinals.
