Albany Academy, staff and pupils got into the carnival spirit on Saturday the 11th July, as the pupils and teachers prepared a float for the Adlington Carnival parade.
The float which held the schools band, singers and dancers was dressed in a ‘Bugsy Malone’ theme to showcase the pupil’s great performance of the production that was held in the spring term.
Over the past half term our Year 9 pupils have designed props and decorations for the float. These props all had a ‘Bugsy Malone’ theme and included oversized musical notes, cars and hats.
The school band played arrange of tracks from the film to the packed streets of Adlington, while our singers and dancers dazzled the audience with their amazing talents. The parade which lasted around an hour on a route through Adlington is an annual event that brings the community together. Albany was delighted to support a local community event.
Mr Rushe, who organised the pupil’s involvement in the carnival, said, “Thank you to all of the pupils who were involved in the carnival. This was another great event for our pupils to be involved with. They were really able to show off their abilities as singers, dancers, musicians and artists to the packed carnival crowd.”
