On Monday 7th December 2015, Year 10 GCSE Art & Design students enjoyed a rewarding afternoon at Runshaw College to work on activities in a ‘New Approaches to Drawing’ workshop on the theme of animals. Students used a wide range of media and were inspired by artists including Franz Marc, Debbie Smyth and Steam Punk to work in various ways including focussing on the negative image, working from printed resource as well as life study. The different media the students used included batique, pins with cotton, charcoal, print and drawing ink.
Mr Nisbet, who organised the student’s involvement in the day, said “This was an inspiring and useful visit. The students gained further insight into new artists and gained experience using unfamiliar techniques that they can use to develop their own ideas and portfolios of work.”
