Wigan & Leigh College

This week, representatives from Wigan & Leigh College interviewed Year 11 pupils about what they want to do after they achieve their results. Some were already decided, whilst others were offered advice and guidance to courses that they might find interest in.

An extremely positive day interviewing prospective Year 11 Albany Academy students for Wigan & Leigh College courses. Students were well prepared, polite, well mannered and armed with thorough and high quality personal statements, records of achievement and well thought out questions for the interviewing team. The team were able to identify their future career aspirations, discuss the courses and pathways in additional detail and ensure each student had their next steps mapped out - walking away from the interview knowing what to expect and also their conditional course offers in hand.

Students post 16 options and courses ranged today from our A Level Medical programme, specialist bakery, bespoke nursing, animal management, media makeup and apprenticeships in areas such as engineering, business administration and construction crafts.

Many students were already aware of our transport links and the free bus pass scheme that makes getting to College much more accessible for all.

Students were a credit to Albany Academy and I wish them all the best of luck in their GCSE exams.
