Year 10 GCSE Design Technology students from Albany Academy,, visited Chorley based company Pasquill in a fun and engaging tour designed to broaden their knowledge of the manufacturing industry.
Albany Academy opened its doors to students, family members and the local community for their 2016 GCSE Art and Photography exhibition. The event was hugely popular with displays of a wide variety of art, photography and resistant materials work produced by students from the Year 11 GCSE Technology Faculty.
Year three students from Anderton Primary visited Albany Academy this November. The technology department at Albany were helping the Year three class with their current Design Technology topic, 'Structures'.
The Year three students got to experience a high school environment and learn how a laser cutter can help to make precision shapes needed to build a solid structure. The students all had a great time and produced some amazing work.
Design Technology teacher at Albany, Mr Simpkin, said, “The pupils from Anderton Primary were very excited to learn about CAD/CAM and enjoyed seeing the laser cutter. We are looking to arrange another visit for the pupils later in the school year”
Year three teacher at Anderton Primary, Mrs Harrison, said, “All the children enjoyed the workshop which covered key aspects of learning for the Design Technology topic, 'Structures'. The children are looking forward to following up work started in the workshop back at school."
