Admissions

Thank you for considering Albany Academy for your child.

Each year we hold an open evening in September and offer school tours. You can take a virtual tour on our website.

Applications for Year 7 must be submitted to your local authority by 31st October.

Places are offered on 1st March.

Year 7 Admissions

  • Oversubscribed

Each year we are heavily oversubscribed. We receive over 600 applications for 150 places.

Our oversubscription critieria is in our admissions policy.

  • Year 7 Appeals

If you wish to appeal for a place at Albany Academy, please complete the appeal form and return to school office.

Appeals for entry to Year 7 will be in May or June and announced here in due course. Appeals will be heard within 40 school days of the deadline.

    Appeals are held in Preston.

Further information is available from Lancashire LA.

  • Waiting List

Albany Academy is heavily oversubscribed each year. As such we operate a waiting list for admissions which will be ranked again every time a child is added, in line with the published oversubscription criteria.

Admissions Area

We admit children from Adlington, Chorley, Brinscall, Abbey Village, Euxton, and Rivington.

Geographical Priority Area
Details are in our Admissions Policy

Distance from school
Children who live closer to school are given priority when we are oversubscribed.

How to Apply

You need to apply via your local authority. Applications should be completed online. Most of our applications are managed by Lancashire and Bolton.

We do not have a supplementary information form.

We have decided to exceed our PAN of 135 to 150 for entry to Year 7. This is in response to continued high numbers of applications and increasing demand for secondary school places in Chorley. We will consider the impact of our continued growth on the smooth running of the school before we make any decision about our admission numbers in future years.
